It's been forever!!

Hi! It's been a long long looooong time since I've been on here as I figured people weren't really looking at this blog...well I was wrong obviously :)

Thanks to the few of you who have left comments, I'm glad to be of service....as I know at least a handful of people are looking at or have looked at the page I'll try and add a few more lyrics soon..hopefully ones to songs you've not heard of LOL

Peace, Love and Harmony guys!
xx

P.S Don't forget - if you want lyrics to any song just let me know via garden_of_eden_1980@yahoo.co.uk with the subject header LYRIC REQUEST and I'll be happy to oblige - if it's a more obscure song then a link i.e to a youtube video of it would be useful - I need to listen to the song to transcribe!! And as I have mentioned before, I transcribe the lyrics myself to provide you all with not only wonderful lyrics to wonderful tunes but also to give you a good laugh when I completley mis-hear things.....I'm saving my embarassment for posterity !!

Song for Ten [Extended version] - Murray Gold

Thanks to Murray Gold for writing an extended version of Song For Ten! I admit I prefer Tim Philips singing it but Neil Hannon does a pretty good job. I recommend you buy the Dr.Who soundtrack disc as it is really very good :)

Anyway, you're here for the lyrics so there you go:

Well I woke up today
And the world was a restless place
It could have been that way for me
And I wandered around
And I thought of your face
That Christmas looking back at me
Woooooh

I wish today was just like every other day
Cus today has been the best day
Everything I ever dreamed
And I started to walk
Pretty soon I will run
And I'll come running back to you
Cus I followed my star
And that's what you are
I've had a merry time with you
Woooow
I wish today was just like every other day
Cus today has been the best day
Everything I ever dreamed

So have a good life
And do it for me
Make me so proud like you want me to be
Wherever you are I'm thinking of you oceans apart
I want you to know
La la la laaaa x3
Yeeaaaaaah

Well I woke up today
And your on the other side
Our time will never come again
But if you can still dream
Close your eyes it will seeeem
That you can see me now and then
Yeeaaaaaah
I wish today was just like every other day
Cus today has been the best day
Everything I ever dreamed
I wish today was just like every other day
Cus today has been the best day
Everything I ever dreamed

It's been a while since I updated...

So I took a trip down memory lane the other day - I brought 3 of the 4 seasons of an American tv show from the mid-nineties called Caroline in the City. I loved this show when it was on tv over here in England and so to actually get the DVD's is a godsend - however it's started my mini obsession again and now with the aid of the internet right in my living room I've been roaming cyber space to be a nosy bugger!

One of the websites I came across is for one of the actors Malcolm Gets who plays the male lead character of a depressive would be artiste called Richard Karinsky in the show. On this website are a few media clips and one of them is of a song he sings called Way Ahead which is basically about a caveman singing and alluding to the fact that he is gay. It's a fab song and I have the lyrics stuck in my head!

If you wana check out the video go to www.malcolmgets.com/media.php and select wayahead

ANYhoo here come the lyrics (excuse the way I've written them out, I did it very quickly):

Intro

Today’s the day your son becomes a man papa
Today he claims a mate and joins the clan papa
Or that’s what you’d expect, from any son who walks erect
Well I’m sorry but I’ve got a different plan papa

I’m not like the other cavemen
Mother Nature gave men a brain
But for most of them it’s all in vain
They got no reason or rhyme
Undeniably I’m way ahead of my time

Remember when you took me hunting for Mastodon
How at first I nearly fainted, then I hurried home and painted
People saw my sketch and learned the story and past it on
Cus it was plastered on the wall, for the glory of us all

With a spear in hand I fear I’m ineffectual
But I might just be the world’s first homo-sapien, who’s an intellectual

I’m not like the other cavemen
All the gruff and grave men I greet
Like to hunt and grunt and eat raw meat – urgh!
They seem at home in the grime
Undeniably I’m way ahead of my time

Remember when the days were chilly and plisticine
How you made me those pajamas from the skins of woolly mammoths
Only nower days it’s not so frozen in iceticine
It might be nice to see new clothes, in a style that I’ll propose

You know I’d never put myself in jeopardy
But I swear that I would kill for something sleek and leopardy

Because, I’m not like the other cavemen
Can’t you see I crave men-y things, that a low brow lifestyle never brings
No chance for something sublime
Undeniably I’m way ahead of my time

OH I’m sick of all these dances with that ooga booga CRAP
If only I could show you all the steps I got on tap (just watch me)
*taps* See me shine papa
*taps some more* ooh I’m on fire! Here we go!
*taps even more* I’ll tell you what fire is later
*taps into a finish*

Oh but I’m not like the other cavemen
Virtuous and bravemen...No Doubt!
But the kind that I could do without
They got no reason or rhyme
Undeniably I’m...gonna have to say…PA! Can’t you see I’m...WAY ahead of my TIMEE!
*flourish pose to finish*

Thanks to www.malcolmgets.com for having the brilliant clip on there for me to find and enjoy!

"Someday I'll Shoot Somebody Famous" - Tony Slattery from The Cambridge University Footlights Revue 1982

Sitting all alone on my bed in my bedsit
Staring at the bullets on the floor
Magazine women all over the walls
And a bullseye on the door

Open my suitcase, take my pick
Squeeze on the trigger, feel the hammer go click

I'm going to shoot somebody famous
I'm going to shoot somebody big
I smile at the picture of John on the wall
So many to go George, Ringo and Paul
I'm going to shoot somebody...dead

Photographs of famous people strewn all around me
Just a blindfold and a pin so I can choose
Politicians laughing at me through the camera
But I am their judge and I accuse

I fix the time, I fix the place
Just need the courage, to show the world my face

Staring at my fists as I sit in the darkness
Waiting for the hour I fear is right
I'm just about to leave when I begin to cry softly
Someday I swear I'll go but not tonight

Close up my suitcase, begin to wait
So many people, so many people to hate

Someday I'll shoot somebody famous
Somday I'll shoot somebody big
I've got to do better than shoot the Pope
Assassinate God, it's my only hope
Someday I'll shoot somebody...dead.

Whose Line Is It Anyway ROCKS!!

ANYway I came across a video of the Cambridge Footlights Revue 1982 and there is a clip of Tony Slattery singing a song about shooting someone big dead - serious song and even though he isn't the world's best singer the emotion he puts into it is amazing - you can actually see tears in his eyes!! If you come across this video then I recommend you watch it - it also includes Emma Thompson, Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Paul Shearer and Penny Dwyer.
You Are 50% Boyish and 50% Girlish
You are pretty evenly split down the middle - a total eunuch. Okay, kidding about the eunuch part. But you do get along with both sexes. You reject traditional gender roles. However, you don't actively fight them. You're just you. You don't try to be what people expect you to be.
How Boyish or Girlish Are You?
